Kate Seybold

Director at Seward Community Co-op

Kate Seybold is the Farm to School Coordinator for Minneapolis Public Schools, where she works closely with small and emerging farms in our region to source healthy, sustainable food for the district’s meal service. In her role, Kate also oversees a variety of programs and community partnerships designed to provide food education to students and strengthen the local food system.

A Wisconsin-native, Kate attended St. Olaf College where she studied biology and environmental studies. During her time there, she managed St. Olaf’s organic farm and conducted agricultural research on soil and water quality. Kate later moved to Minneapolis and completed a year of AmeriCorps service with Minnesota GreenCorps before beginning her career at Minneapolis Public Schools. Kate currently serves as Co-Chair of the Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council, a community advisory board for the City of Minneapolis that seeks to build and foster a healthy, sustainable, local food system.

In her free time, Kate enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, and spending time outdoors. She can frequently be spotted at Minneapolis farmers markets or running around one of the Minneapolis lakes. Kate lives in the Bryant neighborhood (only a few blocks from the Seward Co-op Friendship store) with her husband and two dogs, Lily and Ramona.

Kate’s love for good food, and her commitment to building a stronger and more resilient community-based food system, led her to the Seward Co-op. Her vision for Seward Co-op is a thriving and inclusive community where stakeholders feel their bodies nourished, their principles and values represented, and their community sustained.
