Rachel Smurthwaite

Rachel Smurthwaite has a strong background in communications and marketing. From 2021, they have been working as the Head of Communications at Sewell Group. Prior to this, from 2012 to 2021, they held the role of Account Director at Sowden & Sowden, where they were responsible for overseeing clients' marketing strategies and campaign plans. Before that, from 2007 to 2011, they served as a Media Relations Officer at Hull City Council, where they promoted the council's reputation through various communication channels. Rachel's earlier experience includes working as a Broadcast Assistant/Producer at BBC Radio Humberside from 2006 to 2007.

Rachel Smurthwaite attended the University of Lincoln from 2003 to 2006, where they earned a BA (Hons) degree in Media Production. In 2006, they also completed an online course on Media Law offered by the NCTJ.
