Pete Kauhanen is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in geographic information systems and environmental research. Currently serving as the Senior Geographic Information System Manager at the San Francisco Estuary Institute since November 2013, Kauhanen has taken on leadership roles in various geospatial workgroups and has been instrumental in high-profile mapping projects, including the Delta Aquatic Resource Inventory. Previous roles include significant contributions as a collaborator and senior scientist at Spatial Informatics Group, as well as positions at the Environmental Defense Fund and The Nature Conservancy. Kauhanen holds a Master's degree in Ecology, Environment, and Evolutionary Anthropology from Stanford University, along with a Bachelor's degree in Human Biology and a certificate in Geographic Information Systems from San Francisco State University.
