Michael Santi

Located in Boise office, Mike is an Idaho Professional Engineer with over 30 years of professional engineering experience in transportation engineering including construction, design and materials. Mike retired from Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) in 2020 where he developed extensive experience with highway materials including flexible and rigid pavement thickness design; asphalt and concrete mixture design and testing; roadway design and construction inspection and testing. He designed over 30 projects in southwest Idaho, including several interstate projects around Boise and the SH-21, I-84 to Diversion Dam realignment. Mike designed over 50 pavement projects ranging from flexible and rigid construction, reconstruction, CRABS, Cold-in-Place Recycle, Hot-in-Place Recycle, overlays, chip seals, and plantmix seals.

In his over 20-years at ITD Headquarters Materials, Mike held positions of State Pavement Engineer, Assistant State Materials Engineer, and State Materials Engineer. Mike managed the State Project Development Engineer, State Pavement Design Engineer, State Geotechnical Engineer, Qualified Products Engineer, and Chemist Supervisor. Mike was the statewide subject matter expert on flexible and rigid thickness design methods of AASHTO 93, (DARWin), Idaho R-Value, Winflex, and Pavement ME Design. He supported all districts, consultants, and local agencies with pavement and materials technical assistance for design and construction activities.
