Shape’s story began with the success of MODEC’s digital journey started in 2015, which led, among others, to recognition as a Global Beacon of the 4th industrial revolution by the World Economic Forum. In addition, MODEC decided to bring digital capabilities to other sectors, in collaboration with Mitsui, McKinsey & Company, and Microsoft. 

Microsoft brings its expertise in hardware and cloud solutions to technology-enable Shape’s solutions. McKinsey provides expertise and digital practices in analytics and business building to support MODEC in building capabilities for the new service. Mitsui is helping Shape break into the market by leveraging its worldwide portfolio and customer network. 

In November 2020, Mitsui announced its comprehensive Digital Transformation (DX) strategy and is currently investing in Shape as one of its most advanced and important digital DX initiatives.
