Ken Prentice

VP, Head of Process and Product Development at ShapeTX

Ken Prentice is the current VP, Head of Process and Product Development at ShapeTX. Prior to their current position, Ken worked as a Senior Scientist at Juno Therapeutics, Inc. from May 2015 to March 2019. There, they led a group in the analysis of proteins, peptides, and small molecules and their impact on cellular immunotherapy processes and products. Ken also developed novel high resolution biochemical assays to interrogate T-Cells for CAR-T and TCR drug processes and products.

Before Juno Therapeutics, Ken worked as a Senior Associate Scientist, Analytical Sciences at Amgen from August 2002 to May 2015. There they developed high resolution analytical tools to investigate the impact of chemical and structural modifications on antibodies and their function. A few techniques Ken used and developed to better understand preclinical drugs are: high throughput intact mass spectrometry for the analysis of glycan engineered and bispecific mAbs, limited proteolysis LC-MS for analysis of domain specific post-translational modifications, native and reduced peptide mapping for the analysis of disulfide linked peptides and residue specific post-translational modifications, and hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry for the structural analysis and comparison of antibodies.

Ken has been successful in leading hypothesis driven research to understand industry related problems and has been utilized on investigation teams to quickly and decisively solve timeline driven issues. Additionally, they act as analytical lead in support of preclinical drug development with responsibilities that include the interpretation of diverse datasets to define analytical strategy and support regulatory submissions.

They work with Ron Hause - VP, Head of Analytics and Informatics, Will Krause - VP, Finance, and Joe Biedenkapp - VP, Program and Portfolio Management. Ken Prentice reports to Francois Vigneault, Co-Founder, President & CEO.
