Kevin Stein is an accomplished computational biologist currently serving as the Director of Computational Biology at Shape Therapeutics Inc., a position held since November 2020, following roles as Associate Director and Senior Data Scientist. Prior to this, Kevin was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford University from August 2014 to October 2020, focusing on protein folding and quality control mechanisms in C. elegans and yeast. Kevin's academic journey began at Washington University in St. Louis, where a PhD in Molecular Cell Biology was completed from 2008 to 2014, after a graduate study that involved investigating protein amyloid aggregates and their impact on phenotypic outcomes. Earlier experience includes research at Portland State University, where investigations centered on reactive oxygen species and DNA repair in C. elegans and bacteria. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Geology from the University of Puget Sound, earned between 2002 and 2006.
