Gemma Butler has worked in the creative industry for over 20 years, starting in 1999 as a Music Video Art Director at Bullet Films. Gemma then worked as a freelance Art Director at various ad agencies from 2000 to 2002, before moving to glue Isobar, where they worked as a Senior Art Director until 2005. In 2005, they joined Agency Republic as a Creative Director and Senior Art Director. In 2011, they worked as a Freelance Creative Director at Google, and then moved to DigitasLBi_UK in 2012 as a Creative Director, working with Gav Gordon-Rogers. In 2014, they and Gav set up Lost Boys, a creative digital agency, and they served as Creative Director there until 2017. In 2020, they joined WEAVE as a Creative Partner, and they are also a Co-Founder and Creative Advisor at ShareIn.

Gemma Butler attended Newcastle University from 1995 to 1999, where they obtained a BA(Hons) Fine Art in Fine and Studio Arts.
