Abed Awad is a highly experienced lawyer, with a career spanning over two decades. From 1998-2000, they served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable George E. Sabbath at the NJ Superior Court. Abed then opened their own practice, the Law Office of Abed Awad, in 1999. In 2000, they became an Islamic Law Expert Witness at the Office of Shari'a Experts. In 2003, they began working as an Assistant Corporation Counsel (part-time) for the City of Paterson, as well as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers Law School-Newark. In 2010, they became a Partner at Awad & Khoury, LLP in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, where they specialize in complex civil and family litigation cases with international or multi-jurisdictional components, as well as estate planning (including Sharia-compliant estate planning). In 2011, they also began working as an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall Law School. In 2020, they founded Shariawiz LLC.

Abed Awad's education history includes a J.D. from Pace University School of Law (1995-1998), an M.A. in Near and Middle East Studies from SOAS University of London (1993-1995), a B.A. in Political Science from Saint Peter's University (1987-1991), and a Certificate in Comparative Law from SOAS University of London. Abed has also attended Rutgers Law School.
