Hoor Al Qasimi

President and Director at Sharjah Art Foundation

Hoor Al-Qasimi has extensive work experience in the art and cultural sectors. Hoor currently serves as the Co-curator at KADIST, where they are involved in organizing an exhibition showcasing the relevance of civic poets in reshaping civic engagement. Prior to this, they held various roles at the Sharjah Art Foundation, including President and Director. Hoor also served as the President of The Africa Institute and owned a restaurant called Fen Cafe & Restaurant. Hoor Al-Qasimi has been actively involved in the art community through positions such as being a board member at Ashkal Alwan, an advisory board member at Khoj International Artists’ Association, and a visiting tutor at the Slade School of Fine Art. Hoor has also served as a trustee at KW Institute for Contemporary Art and on the board of directors at MoMA PS1. Alongside their professional engagements, they co-curated a project at L'Art Rue - الشارع فن.

Hoor Al-Qasimi's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art from the Slade School of Fine Art, which was earned between 1998 and 2002. Hoor then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Painting at the Royal Academy of Arts from 2003 to 2004. Following that, they obtained another Master of Arts degree in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art from 2005 to 2008.
