David Barker

David Barker has a diverse range of work experience spanning over three decades. David began their career in 1990 as a Project Supervisor & Organiser at David Ritchie Implements LTD, where they ensured projects proceeded smoothly and adhered to customer requirements. From 1995 to 1997, they worked at United Closures & Plastics as a Product Development Engineer, responsible for coordinating with subcontractors and customers to develop new products. At IMI, from 1997 to 1998, they served as a Design Engineer, focused on designing and developing new products for the drinks dispense industry.

In 1999, David joined Sevcon as a Principal Design Engineer, leading new product developments in the manufacturing of electric vehicle controllers. David also contributed to design alterations for existing products. From 2001 to 2011, they worked as a Senior Design Engineer at Stanley Black & Decker, where they played a significant role in developing new products for the retail market worldwide, from concept to manufacturing implementation.

In 2011, David joined Chervon Group as a Senior Design Engineer, and from 2014 to 2022, they worked at SharkNinja UK, initially as the Vice President of Floor Care NPD, China, and later as the Vice President of Engineering.

Throughout their career, David has demonstrated expertise in new product development, concept ideation, design, testing, and production implementation. David has also gained experience in project management, quality assurance, and revision of specifications to meet safety standards and practices.

David Barker attended Perth High School from 1982 to 1988. David then went on to study Mechanical Engineering at Abertay University from 1988 to 1993, earning a B Eng (Hon) degree. Following that, they pursued a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Based Engineering Systems at Abertay University from 1993 to 1994.
