Gaia Cosgrove McVey is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with extensive experience in mental health services and substance abuse treatment. Currently employed at Shawnee Health Service since September 2021, Gaia provides counseling in school-based clinics for grade school through high school students. Previously, Gaia served as an Admissions Coordinator at Gateway Foundation from September 2017 to 2021, with responsibilities including client assessments and scheduling for various treatment programs. Gaia's career at Gateway Foundation also includes a role as Clinical Supervisor for a residential substance abuse program for adolescent boys from December 2000 until September 2017. Earlier experience includes providing individual mental health counseling at Associated Psychotherapists from 2007 to 2014, specializing in conduct, attention, and mood disorders. Gaia holds a Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, earned between 2001 and 2004.

Shawnee Health Service is a comprehensive, coordinated network of community health centers and services located throughout Jackson and Williamson Counties. Shawnee provides Integrated Primary Medical and Behavioral Health care, including Addiction Medicine, Counseling, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, and Same Day. In addition, we provide Behavioral Health Care, Nutrition/Dietary Counseling, OB/GYN Care, and Weight Management. We also provide both General and Pediatric Dentistry. Shawnee currently has nine medical providers, seven dentists, and sixteen mid-levels providers. Since our beginning in 1971, Shawnee Health Service and Development Corporation has fostered the development of health and social services in southern Illinois.
