Taylor Hornecker is an experienced communications professional with a strong background in digital and social media strategy. Currently serving as the Director of Communications at Universal Music Group since January 2018, Taylor oversees global communications and content strategy across social media platforms for both Universal Music Group and Universal Music Publishing Group. Additionally, Taylor holds the position of Content Director at Taylor Is The Music, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing female representation in the music industry. Previous roles include Director of Digital & Social Media at Combs Enterprises, Senior Community Manager at Ignite Social Media, and various positions in public relations across multiple agencies. Taylor earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Western Michigan University.

She Is The Music
In January 2018, the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative released a study on the music industry revealing a six-year low for female creators in popular music. She Is The Music actively seeks to close this gap by increasing opportunity and visibility for women currently working in music, as well as developing the next generation of women to join the industry and seek leadership roles. As an umbrella nonprofit, we also provide resources and support for female-focused initiatives that are working to create meaningful change. She Is The Music currently holds some of the most successful all-female song-writing camps, with each camp hosted around an established artist. We have created a database which is the industry’s ‘official’ and most comprehensive directory of women working in music, and we also provide a mentorship program, currently in partnership with Step Up.
