Sonja Owens M.ed.

Sonja Owens, M.Ed., is an experienced operations manager currently working at the Shelby County Health Department since December 2022. Previously, Sonja held various roles at Shelby County Government from July 2012 to December 2022, including supervisor and technical specialist, achieving significant milestones such as a 50% increase in vanpool growth for the Memphis Area Rideshare program and earning multiple environmental awards. Additionally, Sonja has extensive experience as a health inspector, providing food safety training and conducting compliance audits at multiple health departments and organizations. Sonja holds a Master’s degree in Education from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Fisk University.
