James Churchill is an experienced geologist with a background in subsurface and reservoir analysis, currently serving as the CNS Subsurface Lead at Shell since November 2016. In this role, James leads projects in operated and non-operated environments, focusing on New Business Development, Energy Transition, and Portfolio analysis. Previously, James held the position of Senior Production Geologist within the Hydrocarbon Maturation Team at Shell, where expertise in reservoir modeling and clastic geology was developed. In addition to corporate roles, James has held various leadership positions within the Geoscience Energy Society of Great Britain from January 2019 to January 2025. James's prior experience includes significant contributions to the BG Group and Ichron Limited, addressing subsurface uncertainty and enhancing modeling techniques across various international projects. James holds a Master's degree in Petroleum Geology from the University of Aberdeen and a Bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of Liverpool.
