Matt Shatek

Regional Maintenance Director at SHELTER CORPORATION

Matt Shatek began his career at Shelter Corporation in 2005 as an onsite caretaker. Over the years, he has progressed through the ranks to his current position as Regional Maintenance Director. As the head of Shelter’s maintenance department, Matt monitors all areas of maintenance for over 4,500 units, located in MN, TX and FL. His positive attitude is his best quality and is essential to his success as a leader in an ever-evolving industry.Matt leads the preventative maintenance program, which includes bi-monthly site inspections. He also manages an award-winning roving maintenance team.

Matt is responsible for construction and contract negotiations and bidding; monitoring maintenance budgets, credit accounts and mileage reimbursement; and organizing training for maintenance and safety requirements. He is also in charge of preparing sites for federal, state, city and other inspections and building audits.

Matt holds a Special Engineer boilers’ license, an EPA Universal license, a Class E Well Operating License, and is CPO certified. Through years of experience, he has acquired the hands-on skills to tackle any project. He has experience with a variety of housing programs such as MHOP, Section 8, Tax Credit, POTH, and Market Rate. Additionally, he has training in Fair Housing practices.
