Shepherds of Good Hope
Since 1983, Shepherds of Good Hope has been making our community a better place for all. From our humble beginnings as a soup kitchen in the basement of St. Brigid’s Church, to today, as a leader in shelter services and supportive housing with nine locations across Ottawa. Our programs and services help the poor, the marginalized, and the homeless in our community by following a harm reduction model. We meet people where they are, because that's where we are needed most. We know that every person has their own story and unique potential. We believe that every person deserves access to the resources and opportunities to improve their life, at their own pace. As we encounter new problems and emerging needs, we develop pragmatic, innovative solutions that help those we serve renew their sense of worth, dignity and community — and that create a measurable return on investment for our city as a whole. Today, we foster hope and reduce harm in Ottawa by supporting the homeless and most vulnerable with specialized services, programs and partnerships. Through our specialized services, programs and partnerships, we help address challenges with mental health, addictions and trauma. Every day, Shepherds of Good Hope: - Helps stabilize people through our innovative specialized shelter programs - Provides permanent homes with on-site, around-the-clock support in our supportive housing facilities - Serves hundreds at our soup kitchen and drop-in centre - Prepares people for employment through our social enterprise program
