Billie Graham Harrington is the Director of Teaching and Learning. She comes to Spartanburg from Rowland, North Carolina, and is an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teaching with a specialization in Cultural Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her primary research interests focus on issues germane to the experiences of American Indians in mainstream higher education; faculty recruitment and evaluation; and a number of ethnographic projects relating to her Tribe. She has presented her scholarship at regional, national, and international conferences and has published in such journals as the American Journal of Education, The Indigenous Policy Journal, Journal of Indigenous Research, and the Journal of Multicultural, Gender, and Minority Studies.
