Madara Karunarathna

Madara Karunarathna has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Madara started their career as a Part-Time Instructor at the University of Peradeniya in 2008. Madara then worked as a Part-Time Instructor in 2008 and later as an Instructor and Temporary Lecturer at the University of Peradeniya, Faculty of Engineering from 2009 to 2010. In 2011, they joined the Queensland University of Technology as a PhD Research Scholar, focusing on developing strategies to identify common special-purpose operations across multiple algorithms. Madara also served as a Tutor in Service Oriented Architecture and a Research Assistant during their time at the university.

After completing their PhD, Madara worked as a Software Developer at TechConnect IT Solutions Pty Ltd from 2015 to 2016. Madara then joined Next Data Pty Ltd as a Software Engineer from 2016 to 2018. Madara subsequently became a Senior Software Engineer at Next Data Pty Ltd from 2018 to 2019. Madara then worked as a Senior Software Engineer at MYP Corporation from 2019 to 2020.

From 2020 to 2022, Madara held the position of Senior Full Stack Developer at Best Practice Software. Currently, they are working as a Senior Full Stack Developer at Shift, starting in 2022.

Madara Karunarathna completed their education in various institutions. Madara started their academic journey at Maliyadeva Girls' College from 1996 to 2004, where they pursued the GCE Advance Level, focusing on Physical Sciences. Later, they enrolled at the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka from 2005 to 2009, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Computer Engineering. Finally, Madara obtained their highest qualification, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Engineering, from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) between 2011 and 2014.
