Kurt Westerhausen has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. Kurt is currently working at Shift5 as a Principal Field Engineer starting in October 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Tanium from 2014 to 2022, where they held positions such as Regional Vice President of Technical Account Management, Senior Director of Technical Account Management, and Director of Technical Account Management.

Before joining Tanium, Kurt worked at Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Comm Systems Engineer from June 2010 to September 2014, where they provisioned, deployed, and configured multiple operating systems and ensured compliance with security guidelines. Kurt also has experience as a Systems Engineer at Lockheed Martin from September 2008 to June 2010, where they performed software installation and integration tasks.

Additionally, Kurt has worked at Purdue University in various roles. Kurt served as a Spectrum Developer from March 2007 to August 2008, implementing and maintaining a network management system. Kurt also worked as a Laboratory Assistant from August 2006 to March 2007, providing software support and maintaining the technical proficiency of computer laboratories. Furthermore, they worked as an IT Technical Specialist at Emerson in May 2006, deploying workstations and providing technical support to users. Prior to that, Kurt worked as a Customer Service Representative at Purdue University from August 2005 to May 2006, where they provided technical customer support and configured wireless LAN connections.

Kurt Westerhausen holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems obtained from DePaul University, which they completed in the period from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Technology with a specialization in Network Engineering from Purdue University, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Alongside their formal education, Kurt also obtained several certifications. In 2011, they became a Red Hat Certified System Administrator for RHEL6 and achieved the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification from Cisco Systems. Additionally, in the same year, they earned the Red Hat Certified Engineer for RHEL6 certification and became a Red Hat Certified System Administrator for RHEL5, as well as a Red Hat Certified Technician for RHEL5. Later in 2016, Kurt Westerhausen earned the Certified Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) certification from CompTIA.
