Dean Bentley-Falcke

Dean Bentley-Falcke has worked in various roles in the software engineering and business intelligence fields since 2005. In 2005, they were a Brand Representitive for Nike Optics, CK and Fendi at SDM Optics. In 2006, they were a Brand Marketer for North America and Asia at Forwardslash. From 2007 to 2009, they were a Business Intelligence Manager at Biija in Cape Town, South Africa. During this time, they assisted with developing data solutions and algorithms, worked with internal business analysts and clients to design and develop solutions, and consulted with all role players to understand business requirements. From 2009 to 2011, they were a Business Intelligence Developer and IT Manager at Nebula. From 2011 to 2013, they were the Marketing and Online Manager at LB Cubed. From 2013 to 2019, they were the Solutions Architect and Web Development Manager at Parcelninja, where they interfaced with board-level project sponsors, wrote algorithms to make data-driven decisions, planned and coordinated software solution rollouts, and assessed and estimated resource requirements for development sprints. In 2019, they were the Founder and Software Solutions Architect at Synovea, where they created a mobile-first food e-commerce platform for Mugg & Bean, laid the groundwork for Artificial Intelligence requirements for a learning platform, and was a technical consultant for a start-up online retailer. Dean is currently the Vice President of Software Engineering at Shipfusion, where they are helping the team take their ecommerce fulfilment platform to the next level.

Dean Bentley-Falcke attended SACS from 1996 to 2001 and graduated with a High School degree. Dean then attended the University of Cape Town from 2002 to 2005 and obtained a B.Bus.Sci in Marketing. In 2011, they obtained two Microsoft IT Professional certifications in SQL Server 2008 Database Administrator and Database Developer. In 2013, they attended the University of the Witwatersrand and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs. Lastly, in 2018, they obtained a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate certification in SQL Server 2016 Database Development.
