Director of Education at Shoelace Learning

Lauren Coleman has a diverse work experience in the education field. Lauren started their career as a Day Camp Assistant Director at the Woodbridge Township Department of Recreation from 2008 to 2012. In this role, they managed budgets, made purchases, and supervised counselors.

In 2012, they worked as a 6th Grade Language Arts Long Term Substitute at the Newton Board of Education for a few months. Lauren then joined Sylvan Learning Center as a K-12 Tutor for a year, starting in 2012.

Lauren then joined the North Brunswick Township School District in 2012. Lauren started as a 6th & 7th Grade Language Arts Teacher, teaching reading and writing classes to students. Additionally, they served as the Summer Academy Lead Teacher and provided home instruction to students with medical absences. In 2016, they became a Technology Education Teacher, teaching middle-school technology education courses and leading professional development on educational technology.

Since 2017, Lauren has been working at Shoelace Learning as Director of Education. Prior to this role, they served as the Education Lead, where they managed teams of consultants, developed content creation strategy, and coordinated between consultants and full-time staff. Lauren also worked as a Teacher Team Member, providing expertise on literacy development, assessment, and curriculum.

Overall, Lauren Coleman has gained extensive experience in education, both as a teacher and in leadership positions.

Lauren Coleman obtained their High School Diploma from Roselle Catholic High School in 2008. Lauren then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from Boston University, graduating in 2012. Following their undergraduate studies, Lauren obtained certifications as an Elementary Teacher in Grades K-6 from both the Massachusetts Department of Education and the New Jersey Department of Education in April 2012 and February 2012, respectively.

In 2014, Lauren enrolled in New York University and completed their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Digital Media Design and Learning in 2016. Lauren further expanded their qualifications by obtaining the Google Certified Educator, Level 1 certification from Google in November 2017, followed by the Google Certified Educator, Level 2 certification in April 2018. Additionally, Lauren obtained a certification in Elementary School with Subject Matter Specialization: Language Arts/Literacy Specialization in Grades 5-8 from the New Jersey Department of Education in February 2012.
