Gurcan Gercek

Gurcan Gercek is an experienced Data Engineer currently employed at Shopify since August 2022. Previously, Gurcan held senior roles at sentiance, where responsibilities included designing a Behavior Change Platform, and as a contractor at Total Computing Solutions, focusing on Java-based POS middleware products. Additional experience includes serving as Lead Architect at WAW Technologies, where Gurcan developed a peer-to-peer monitoring sensor product, and working with Devera Logic on advanced access control modules. Gurcan has also contributed to academia as a Research Assistant at Dalhousie University, focusing on machine learning, and has engaged in independent contracting on projects involving AWS solutions. With a solid educational background, including a PhD candidacy in Computer Science from Dalhousie University, Gurcan’s technical expertise spans Linux, Java, Python, and database technologies.
