Lawrence Mandel

Lawrence Mandel is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience in software development and product management. Currently serving as the VP of Engineering at Shopify since October 2017, Lawrence Mandel has also held key positions such as Director of Engineering for Money and Director of Production Engineering for Developer Acceleration. Additionally, Lawrence Mandel is a Board Member at CanadaHelps since November 2018. Prior to Shopify, experience at Mozilla from September 2011 to October 2017 involved roles such as Director of Engineering, focusing on releases and engineering productivity, and managing the Firefox release management team. Lawrence Mandel's career began at IBM, where roles spanned from IT Specialist to Project Manager for Rational Insight, as well as contributions to the Eclipse Web Tools Platform. Lawrence Mandel holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science, specializing in Software Engineering from Western University, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Human Biology from the University of Toronto.
