Zhong Wu

Zhong Wu is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience in applied machine learning and engineering. Currently serving as VP of Applied ML Engineering at Shopify since December 2024, Zhong leads initiatives in Unified Assistants, Unified Recommendation, and Merchant Optimization. Prior to this role, Zhong held various leadership positions at Microsoft from May 2020 to December 2024, including VP responsible for recommendation systems and middle-tier services, and Partner Software Engineer/GM focusing on feed recommendation and whole page optimization. At DataVisor from September 2014 to May 2020, Zhong was GM of China and Corporate VP, overseeing the development of fraud detection algorithms and regional operations. Earlier career experience at Microsoft included senior roles in the Bing image search IndexGen team, contributing to image relevance through technical leadership and large-scale image processing. Zhong holds a PhD in Computer Science and a Bachelor's degree in Automation from Tsinghua University, completed in 2011 and 2006, respectively.
