Catherine Mahugu

Founder at SOKO

Catherine Mahugu is a Founder and Business Development Manager with an impressive background in the technology and business sectors. Catherine began their career in 2010 as a Project Consultant for the Kenya ICT Board and University of Nairobi. In the same year, they were also a Project Consultant for the Nokia Research Centre-Stanford University. In 2011, they were a Researcher and User Experience Designer for the Earth Institute of Colombia University (Centre for Sustainable Urban Development) and a Project Consultant for Kenya Vision 2030 and University of Nairobi. That same year, they were also the Co-Founder of KamataKab and the Business Development Manager for Knowing Ltd (Wazua and Nelly Data). In 2012, they founded Soko (www.shopsoko.com) and in 2017, they founded WaziData, a business innovation consultancy focused on harnessing the power of data and design to change lives for social good. Most recently, in 2018, they founded CHISWARA & SOKO.

Catherine Mahugu received their Certification in Design Thinking from Stanford University (Hasso Plattner Institute of Design) in 2010. Catherine then attended the University of Nairobi, where they earned their Bsc. in Computer Science from 2008 to 2012. Prior to that, they attended Strathmore University from 2006 to 2007, studying IT.
