Lukas Calafell

Lukas Calafell has extensive work experience in the field of student services and international education. Lukas currently serves as the Student Services Director at Shorelight since July 2021. Prior to that, from December 2020 to July 2021, they worked as a General Education Specialist at West Coast University.

From December 2015 to November 2020, Lukas worked at Shorelight as a Senior Student Services Advisor. Lukas provided guidance and support to students, ensuring their successful academic and personal experiences.

In 2013, Lukas worked at Florida International University, first as a Practicum Intern in the Office of Study Abroad, where they gained operational and student engagement experience. Later, as a Graduate Assistant in the International Student & Scholar Services, they organized events, managed a peer mentor program, and facilitated international student leadership opportunities.

In 2014, Lukas served as an Educational Advising Intern at EducationUSA, where they provided customer service and information for individuals interested in studying in the United States.

Before their career in student services, Lukas worked as a Retail Sales Associate at Gap Inc./ Gap from 2010 to 2013, where they excelled in customer service and meeting sales goals.

During their time at Florida International University, Lukas held leadership positions in the Student Programming Council and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. As President of the Student Programming Council, they focused on increasing outreach and programming to graduate students. As Vice-President of External Communications for Phi Gamma Delta, they managed public relations and implemented alumni engagement strategies.

Overall, Lukas Calafell has a diverse background in student services, international education, customer service, and leadership roles within a university setting.

Lukas Calafell holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from Florida International University, which they obtained between 2013 and 2015. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Sociology and Anthropology, with a minor in Geography, also at Florida International University, from 2008 to 2012. Additionally, Lukas has obtained several certifications, including "Google Analytics Essential Training" from LinkedIn in January 2021, "Comprehensive Tax Course" from The Income Tax School in December 2020, and "Creating Your Personal Brand" from LinkedIn in 2019.
