Ian McAteer

Senior Software Engineer at Shorthand

Ian McAteer has a diverse work experience. Ian started their career as a Swimming Instructor at Somerset College on the Gold Coast in 2011. Ian then transitioned into the legal field and worked as a Trainee Lawyer at Robbins Watson Solicitors from May to October 2016. In 2018, they pursued a career in software engineering, starting as a Full Stack Developer Student at Coder Academy from January to April. Later that year, they joined PCCW GLOBAL Limited as a Junior Software Engineer Intern from August to December, before being promoted to an Associate Software Engineer in December 2018. Currently, Ian works as a Software Engineer at Shorthand, where they joined in October 2021.

Ian McAteer attended Somerset College for their primary and secondary education. After completing high school, they enrolled in Griffith University in 2010 and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Law and Business, majoring in Management. In 2016, they briefly attended Bond University to study Law. Alongside their formal education, Ian has also acquired various certifications and completed online courses, including "Certified SAFe® 4 Practitioner" from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2019, and several courses on web development, design aesthetics, photography, and time management from Lynda.com in 2016.
