Cherry Fernandez

Cherry Fernandez is currently a Senior Software Tester at Showbie. Cherry has over 4 years of experience in Quality Assurance, specializing in functional testing for web and mobile applications.

Cherry started their career as a Quality Assurance Analyst at Givex in June 2012. There, they were responsible for reviewing and analyzing business/user requirements, technical design specifications, flow charts and diagrams. Cherry also did systems testing, regression testing, API testing, and exploratory testing for a complex web application with integrated functionalities for gift card system, stored value ticket processing & transactions (Uptix) and POS System. In addition, they tested for iOS and Android mobile applications for gift card system transactions.

Cherry's duties also included running database queries to test data integrity using PostgreSQL, website setup and configuration for Givex’s merchants, UI testing across multiple browsers, transactions testing, order processing, credit card payment and up to fulfillment to ensure successful end-to-end transactions. Cherry often collaborated with project managers, designers and programmers to discuss any ambiguities in the requirements/ program and suggesting solutions for correction of bugs. Testing was also done on different terminal devices such as POS, Micros and Vexilor POS. Cherry monitored unit tests to ensure that failures are communicated to developers for quick resolution and ran regression tests in Selenium IDE before Major System Releases.

In order to keep track of all the necessary information, Cherry created Test Documentation and Test Scripts to maintain the online Regression Test suite. Whenever there were issues reported, they would work on rotational Bug investigation, reading technical logs to verify bugs and issues, documenting trouble reports and working with programmers to resolve the errors and providing workarounds to end-users. As one of the more experienced members of the team, Cherry also mentored and trained new members about the system, QA policies and procedures.

Cherry's hard work and dedication paid off when they were promoted to Senior Software Tester at Showbie in July 2016. In their current role, they continue to utilize their skills and knowledge to create high-quality software products.

Cherry Fernandez completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. They also hold a certification from the ISTQB - International Software Testing Qualifications Board in ISTQB Certified Tester, Foundation Level (CTFL).

They work with Henry Truong - Junior Software Developer, Eli Dupuis - Lead Web Developer, and Robin Payne - Software Developer. Cherry Fernandez reports to Kenny Dickie, Director of Software Development.
