Principal Product Development Chemist at SI Group

Venkataramanan Seshadri has extensive experience in the field of chemical research and development. Venkataramanan currently holds the position of Principal Product Development Chemist at SI Group, starting in 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Bostik as a Research Scientist from 2022 to 2023. In this role, they led the development of solvent-based acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives and successfully commercialized several products.

Before joining Bostik, Venkataramanan worked at Ashland Inc from 2016 to 2022, where they held the position of Research Scientist. Here, they focused on the development of solvent-based acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives and contributed significantly to the development of a semi-structural adhesive. Venkataramanan was recognized for their contributions with the "Project team of the year 2017" award.

From 2014 to 2016, Venkataramanan worked at Ashland as a Research Scientist in the area of Laminating Adhesives and Coatings. In this role, they directed the development of new water-based adhesives and coatings for flexible packaging and labels. Venkataramanan successfully commercialized a water-based polyurethane-acrylic haptic feel overprint coating.

Prior to their time at Ashland, Venkataramanan worked at Plextronics Inc from 2006 to 2014. Venkataramanan held various positions, including Senior Scientist and Scientist, where they played a key role in the development of printable hole injection layer (HIL) technology for OLEDs. Venkataramanan managed project teams and made significant contributions to improving the operational stability of printed OLEDs.

Venkataramanan started their career at Gharda Chemicals Ltd. from 1998 to 2001, where they worked as a Polymer Engineer. Venkataramanan synthesized and tested new engineering thermoplastics and developed innovative methodologies for polymer synthesis.

Venkataramanan also gained practical experience as a Summer Intern at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd in 1999, where they were involved in the manufacture and testing of carbon fiber-reinforced composite materials for aircraft components.

Overall, Venkataramanan Seshadri has a strong background in chemical research and development, particularly in the areas of adhesives, coatings, and polymer synthesis.

Venkataramanan Seshadri holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry (Polymer chemistry) from the University of Connecticut, which they obtained from 2001 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed an M. Tech in Polymer Science and Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi from 1997 to 1998. Venkataramanan also has an M.Sc in Chemistry and a B.Sc. Hons in Chemistry, both from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, from 1995 to 1997 and 1992 to 1995 respectively. In addition to their formal education, Seshadri has attained certifications in A3 training from GoLeanSixSigma.com in 2018 and Manufacturing and Testing of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes from the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) in 2016. Venkataramanan has also attended a Project Management Workshop conducted by Keoner Tregoe.
