Charles Carter has had a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several companies and roles. Charles is currently working as the Chief Regional Officer for the Americas at Sibanye-Stillwater since 2022. Prior to this, they held various positions at AngloGold Ashanti, including EVP - Strategy & Business Development, Presidente Ejecutivo para Colombia, and EVP - Business Strategy & Organisational Effectiveness. Charles also worked at AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. as the Vice President of Investor Relations, where they played a key role in establishing market liquidity and brand recognition for the company. Before that, they worked at Resource Finance Corporation as a Vice President, where they developed a client base and identified growth opportunities for mining companies. Charles also held positions at AngloGold Ltd and Anglo American Corporation of S.A. Ltd. In these roles, they were involved in strategic planning, employment equity, and issues management across various divisions. In addition, they worked at Rhodes Scholarships in Southern Africa as an Assistant General Secretary, where they managed selection committees and initiated a bursary scheme for disadvantaged school children. Early in their career, they started as a Management Trainee/Divisional Manager at Anglo American Corporation of S.A. Ltd. Charles also had a brief stint in the Industrial Relations Department at the same company.
Charles Carter received a BA Hons in Social Anthropology (first class) from the University of Cape Town in 1985. Charles then pursued a DPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford, completing it in 1991. In 2002, they attended the Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management for the EDP program. Recently, in 2019-2020, they obtained an HBAP in Business Analytics from Harvard University.
