Hilmar Rode

Hilmar Rode has extensive leadership experience in the mining and materials industries, currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of Sibelco Group since September 2020. Prior roles include Head of Operational Strategy, Capital Management & Projects at Glencore, Chief Executive Officer at Nyrstar, and President of Minera Escondida Ltda at BHP. Hilmar has held senior positions with Glencore, managing restructuring in the Zinc Division and leading Sinchi Wayra as Chief Executive Officer. Further experience includes Managing Director for Mondi Group and Vice President of Business Development at Anglo American. Hilmar's educational background includes a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University at Buffalo, along with a General Management AMP from Harvard Business School and a BEng in Chemical Engineering from Stellenbosch University.
