Chege Thumbi

CEO at Sidian Bank

Chege Thumbi is the current CEO at SIDIAN BANK Limited. Prior to this, they were the Director of Technology & Operations at NIC Bank from July 2010 to June 2014. There, they were responsible for group information technology services, group branch operations management, channels development and management, change and projects management, central operations, credit operations and debt collections, and customer and contact centre service management. Chege also sat on the Board Executive committee, Board Risk committee and Board Audit committee.

During their time at NIC Bank, Chege was responsible for the implementation of T24 across three East African countries - an implementation that was dubbed the best by Temenos in recent years. Chege also oversaw the expansion of the bank's branches from 13 to over 21, as well as the transformation of the bank's business and expansion of its retail banking. In addition, they introduced channel and technology-based innovations, and streamlined the bank's credit operations and debt collections - resulting in major reductions in provisions and great improvements in collections and TAT on loan processing.

Chege Thumbi attended the University of Nairobi, where they studied telecommunications engineering. Chege then attended KACE, where they studied maths, physics and chemistry. Lastly, they attended KCSE, where they studied maths, chemistry, biology, physis, geography and agriculture.
