Emily Sherwood is an experienced professional focused on community engagement and environmental justice. As the Program and Operations Coordinator at Sierra Club since October 2022, Emily has supported community-based organizations in opposing TVA’s methane gas expansion by establishing organizational frameworks and facilitating coalition efforts among national environmental groups. Additionally, Emily served as an Environmental Participatory Grant Advisory Board Member for the Dan and Margaret Maddox Fund, advising on equitable grant distribution for environmental justice initiatives. Previous roles include Chief Operations Officer and Director of Community Programs at Everybody Vs Racism, where Emily spearheaded anti-poverty programs benefiting over 2,000 families, and as an Anti-Hunger Advocate at the Tennessee Justice Center, where educational webinars led to increased awareness of food security issues. Emily's background also includes communications and event planning experience at Grocer's Daughter Chocolate and TART Trails, Inc., complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Environment and Sustainability from The University of the South.
