Sam Whittingham

Sam Whittingham has a strong background in finance and accounting, with experience in various industries. They started their career as a Group Systems Accountant at FCC Environment, where they led a Finance Systems Team and managed system interfaces. They also worked as a General Ledger Lead for ERP Implementation, determining functional requirements and analyzing cost benefits.

Afterwards, Sam worked at Greencore as a Commercial Finance Business Partner. They partnered with commercial teams to enhance sales and margin performance and collected historic supplier rebates.

Sam then joined Asda as a Strategic Planning Manager, developing the three-year business plan and providing financial analysis for quarterly results announcements. They also worked as a Working Capital Manager and were responsible for driving working capital improvements across the business.

They later worked as a Financial Controller LV and CV at Alliance Automotive Group UK and as a Freelance Consultant at SW Consultants. Sam also served as a Group Financial Controller at Akari Care and as a Financial Controller on temporary/fixed-term contracts at Manufacturing and Financial Services.

In 2022, they became the Finance Director at Mailway Packaging Solutions before moving on to become a Contract Financial Controller at Manufacturing and Consumer Products. Currently, Sam holds the position of Head of Financial Control at Sigma, starting in February 2023, and will soon take on the role of Finance Director with the same company.

Sam Whittingham completed an MBA Essentials program at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2018 to 2019. Prior to that, they obtained the FCCA qualification from ACCA in 2009. They also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics (Hons) from Newcastle University between 2002 and 2005. Sam Whittingham completed their earlier education, focusing on Physics, Maths, and Business Studies, at Silcoates School from 1991 to 2002.
