Ehren Kret has a long and varied work experience in the technology industry. In 2003, they began their career as an intern at Applied Research Labs. Ehren then interned at International Business Machines in 2004, where they implemented J2EE applications in WebSphere, replaced a phone-based customer support system with an online automated ticket routing system, and made multiple improvements to an in-house bug and feature request tracking system. In 2006, they interned at Google, where they wrote a customized Apache Axis provider to support multiple versions of a SOAP API in a single server and implemented ads-system wide changes to permit association of multiple developers per publisher. In 2007, they became a Software Engineer at Google, where they were the Technical Lead for the AdSense API, oversaw numerous technical improvements to the AdSense API, integrated AdSense with YouTube, and provided a monetization channel for syndicated video content. In 2008, they became a Software Engineer at AdMob (acquired by Google), where they scaled AdMob's ad serving systems to support rapid growth of request traffic, developed services to keep AdMob's creatives indexed in RAM for rapid querying and searching, and provided an internal service that was the source of truth for information about iTunes applications used for creative generation. In 2012, they became a Software Engineer at Facebook and a Co-Founder / CTO at Emanata, Inc., where they developed all of Emanata's technical systems including content serving systems, web content management UI, iPhone application, iPad application, and Android application, and managed the legal and financial aspects of the company. In 2013, they became an Engineering Director at WhatsApp Inc. and in 2020, they became the Chief Technology Officer at Signal Messenger.

Ehren Kret attended The University of Texas at Austin from 2003 to 2006, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
