Geert Depovere

Geert Depovere has over 25 years of work experience in various roles in research and development management. Geert is currently the Senior Vice President and Head of Research at Signify, where they lead the central Research organization and is responsible for defining and executing the research program. Prior to that, they were the Vice President and Head of R&D Management at Signify, where they led the R&D function and defined the innovation strategy. Before joining Signify, Depovere worked at Philips Lighting, where they held several leadership roles, including Vice President and Head of Innovation Excellence and Vice President and Head of Technology Strategy and Excellence. Geert also served as a Program Manager and Department Head at Philips Lighting, leading various innovation programs and managing the LED systems department. Before their time at Philips Lighting, Depovere worked at Philips, where they led the Video Processing Group and the Digital Signal Processing cluster in Philips Research. Geert also worked as a Program Manager at Philips Broadband Networks and as a Research Scientist in the field of high bit rate coherent multi-channel systems and broadband optical network architectures.

Geert Depovere holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Ghent, Belgium, which they obtained in 1986. Geert further pursued their education at the same university, completing their Master's degree in Electrical and electronic engineering in 1988. Geert then went on to attend IMEC, University of Ghent, Belgium, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and electronic engineering in 1992.
