Hans Nikol has extensive work experience in the lighting industry. Hans began their career at Philips in 2001, where they held various roles including Department Head of Philips Research and Department Head of Central Development Lighting. In these positions, they led research and development in areas such as solid state lighting, nanomaterials, and organic LEDs. Hans later became the Head of LED Technology Strategy and the Head of Open Innovation, where they focused on developing and implementing innovative strategies for Philips Lighting. In 2017, they joined Signify as the Head of IoT.
Hans Nikol completed their Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Regensburg from 1985 to 1993. Hans then pursued a Post Doc degree in Chemistry at Caltech from 1993 to 1995. Later, in 2007, they enrolled in an Executive Education Program at The Wharton School. No end year is specified for this program.
