Eric Johnston

Chief Operating Officer at Sigrid Therapeutics AB

Eric Johnston has a diverse work experience in various scientific roles. Eric started their career as a laboratory technician at Octapharma AB in Stockholm in 2009. Eric then pursued their Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Stockholm University, where they worked on projects related to catalytic oxidation and artificial photosynthesis from 2008 to 2012. Following that, they joined the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 2012 as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they focused on the synthesis and evaluation of protein cytokine targets for cancer therapy. In 2014, Eric became an Assistant Professor at Stockholm University, where they secured substantial funding and supervised a team while expanding the scope of chemical tools for protein design and synthesis. Since 2015, Eric has also been involved with Sigrid Therapeutics AB, initially as a Scientific Advisor and then as the Chief Technology Officer. Eric currently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer at Sigrid Therapeutics AB.

Eric Johnston attended several educational institutions and obtained degrees in various fields of study. Eric began their education in 1999 at the Swedish Armed Forces, focusing on mine clearance diving. In 2001, they attended AMF and obtained a certification as a welder, specializing in stick welding, MIG, MAG, gas, and TIG techniques. In 2003, Eric enrolled at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where they pursued a degree in engineering with a focus on chemistry. Eric completed this program in 2004. Following their undergraduate studies, Eric attended Stockholm University from 2004 to 2008, where they obtained a master's degree in organic chemistry. Eric continued their studies at the same university and earned a PhD in organic chemistry from 2008 to 2012.
