Maik Gibson is an experienced professional in sociolinguistics with a significant tenure at SIL International since January 2012, serving as both International Sociolinguistics Coordinator and Senior Consultant. Expertise includes providing consultancy and training on sociolinguistic issues such as language policy and multilingualism. Prior to this role, Maik held the position of Principal Investigator at SIL LEAD, focusing on a research project assessing language proficiency in the DRC for the ACCELERE initiative. Furthermore, Maik served as the Director at the Centre for Linguistics, Translation and Literacy at Redcliffe College and was Head of the Department of Translation Studies at Africa International University. Educational qualifications include an MPhil in Computer Speech and Language Processing from the University of Cambridge, a PhD in Linguistic Science and a BA in Linguistic Science from the University of Reading.
