Emiko Thompson

Senior Scholarships Associate at Silicon Valley Community Foundation

As the associate for SVCF’s scholarships department, Emiko is the initial point of contact for applicants to more than 47 scholarship programs. Her work also includes outreach and conference representation to ensure programs are reaching the intended applicant pool. Emiko also stewards two foundation managed programs and supports 15 foundation managed scholarship programs through data tracking, evaluation and streamlining processes. She also conducts virtual interviews and administers payments. Emiko is the primary representative of a portfolio of donor involved scholarships where she stewards meaningful relationships for scholarship program donors to streamline fund administration and execute contract work.

Prior to her tenure at SVCF, Emiko became a substitute teacher for the Latino College Preparatory Academy in San Jose and found her passion for education, becoming an advocate for student success. She has also taught in the San Leandro Unified School District, Morgan Hill Unified School District, Cambrian School District, Los Gatos Saratoga Joint Union High School District and San Jose Unified School District. Emiko finds joy in working with students. Having the opportunity to help make their academic dreams a reality is the reason she became involved in scholarships.
