Nikita Avvakoumov

Nikita Avvakoumov has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Most recently, Nikita worked at Silverfin starting in 2020, where they progressed from a Senior Software Engineer to a Technical Team Lead and currently hold the position of Director of Engineering. Prior to Silverfin, Nikita worked at Laboratory Supply Network from 2015 to 2020, where they held the roles of Software Engineer and later became the Lead Software Engineer. In this role, they were instrumental in developing an Elixir/Phoenix application that supported significant business growth. Nikita also worked at greenhouseci.com (now Nevercode.io) as a Backend Engineer from 2015 to 2017, where they led the development of the service's first public-facing API. Earlier in their career, Nikita worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Tartu from 2012 to 2016, and as a Research Associate and Post-Doctoral Fellow at Université Laval from 2006 to 2012. Throughout their career, Nikita has contributed to scientific research and published multiple articles, literature reviews, and a book chapter.

Nikita Avvakoumov holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biology, General from Queen's University, which was obtained between 1994 and 1998. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology and Immunology at Western University, completing it between 2000 and 2005.
