Richard Greenwald

CEO, President & Co-Founder at Simbex

Rick is an entrepreneur and biomedical engineer with over 25 years of experience in building companies, developing novel technologies, and motivating the process of technology commercialization in the medical device industry. His expertise includes technology and intellectual property development, evaluation and licensing, strategic financing, and business development.

He is the founder and CEO of Simbex, and was founding CEO of venture-funded iWalk (later BionX, then acquired by Ottobock). Rick currently leads two federally funded technology and product development centers, the Center for Translation of Rehabilitation Engineering Advances and Technology and the New England Pediatric Device Consortium, that promote and enhance Simbex’s broad vision of advancing technology commercialization. Rick previously served as a small business expert on of the National Advisory Child Health and Human Development Council of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and on the Council of Councils, Office of the Director, National Institutes of Health.

He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire (VNH) and the New Hampshire Academy of Science (NHAS). Rick is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and holds 20 US Patents, with 5 patents pending
