Sean Yu

Chief Architect at Simbex

Prior to joining Simbex, Sean has served as Project Director on NIH-funded research programs and recently as a Senior Product Architect and BioTech Lead at Garmin International for almost a decade. He is a seasoned product developer and technologist with over twenty years of R&D experience in industry and academia combined.

With expertise in wearables, biomechanics, human physiology, and algorithm development, Sean has architected and developed medical devices, consumer electronics, and differentiating solutions with human-centered focuses and evidence-based approach. He has led and contributed to several projects from ideation, system design, to launching them to the market. With multiple provisional and granted patents, Sean has delivered biomechanics-based wellness programs, algorithmic solutions for wellness monitoring, software as services, and consumer-facing wearable products.

Sean holds a Ph.D degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (Solid Mechanics concentration), and a Master of Business Administration degree (Marketing concentration) from the University of Kansas.
