Karyn Thurston

Karyn Thurston is a skilled AIT Optomechanical Engineer currently working at Simera Sense since May 2023, focusing on optical payloads for nanosatellites and cubesats. Previous experience includes roles as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at AutonoSky, where design and optimization of automated drone delivery payloads were conducted, and at NewSpace Systems, contributing to R&D projects for cubesat attitude determination. Additional internships at Robotic Handling Systems and Zutari involved CAD modeling, pump station design, and site inspections. Karyn holds a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, along with a Bachelor's of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Africa.
