Mary O'Brien

Mary O'Brien currently serves as the Dean and Vice Provost at Simon Fraser University since August 2023. Prior to this role, Mary O'Brien held various positions at the University of Calgary from July 2003 to July 2023, including Senior Associate Dean for Policy and Program Development and Professor of German. Mary O'Brien's academic career also includes titles such as Associate Dean, Graduate Program Director, and Director of the Language Research Centre. Educational qualifications consist of a Bachelor’s Degree in German from The Ohio State University, a Master’s Degree in German Linguistics from The University of Texas at Austin, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in German Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
