Head of Customer Success at Simple KYC

Jans Wessels has an extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Jans started their career in 1990 at Dex Data Technologies as a Group Executive, where they played a key role in the development of customized insurance administration ERP systems. During their time at Dex Data Technologies, they also worked on various patents related to authentication technology. Jans remained with the company until 2009.

Following their tenure at Dex Data Technologies, Jans joined Trustco Insurance as the Managing Director. In this role, they oversaw the administration of $155 million in premiums across 750 sites and achieved a revenue of $34 million. Jans held this position until 2012.

In 2012, Jans took up the position of Business Development Manager at KBBS, a company specializing in predictive analytics for fraud identification and procurement cost normalization. Here, they were responsible for account management, business development, solution architecture, technical analysis, and customer project interfacing. After eight months, they moved on to pursue other opportunities.

From 2012 to 2019, Jans worked at ANZ as a Project Director and later as a Senior Project Manager. Jans successfully coordinated large complex initiatives across portfolios and teams, managed stakeholder interactions, and facilitated the alignment of strategies and missions. During their time at ANZ, they also led the delivery of the Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) project, which involved analyzing data across multiple source systems to forecast interest rate fluctuation impacts. Furthermore, they implemented a support model to enhance model update efficiency and reduce costs.

In 2019, Jans joined NAB as a Program Manager in the KYC (Know Your Customer) and Financial Crime Division. Jans played a crucial role in delivering high-quality process and technology for customer due diligence processing, ensuring compliance with AML/CTF regulations. Jans also led the delivery of a multi-year AML regulatory remediation program, which involved accelerating and digitizing the remediation of individual and non-individual customers. Jans remained with NAB until 2021.

Currently, Jans is working at Simple KYC. Jans began their journey at the company as a Strategic Account Director, and they currently serve as the Head of Customer Success.

Jans Wessels has a diverse education history. Jans obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategy from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science from the University of the Witwatersrand.

In 2020 to 2021, Jans pursued the International Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention from ICA. Additionally, they obtained a Diploma in Business Management with a focus on Operational Management from Newport University.

Jans has also obtained various certifications. Jans completed the Company Directors Course from the Australian Institute of Company Directors in May 2021. Jans also achieved the International Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention from the International Compliance Association in April 2021. Jans holds a certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI Melbourne Chapter, which they obtained in November 2012. Furthermore, they hold the certification of SAFe 4 Certified Agilist from Scaled Agile, Inc., obtained in August 2017. Jans is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Professional Scrum Master (PSMI) certification from Scrum.org.
