Pascal Renou

Pascal Renou has over 15 years of professional experience in software engineering and technical leadership roles. Pascal is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Simple Machines, a position they started in 2021.

Prior to their current role, Pascal worked as a Lead Software Engineer at Lab49 from 2019 to 2021, where they provided technical guidance and expertise to improve the architecture and systems implementation of financial institutions. Pascal also wrote technical reports, architecture documents, and implemented MVP products using Java 8 and Kotlin 1.

From 2018 to 2019, Pascal worked as a Chapter Lead at ING Australia, where they designed, built, tested, and deployed a distributed messaging platform using Apache Kafka. Pascal managed a team of nine engineers and provided technical mentorship, guidance, and contributed to the improvement of development practices.

Prior to that, Pascal held various positions at companies such as Macquarie Group, Fairfax Media, AXA Insurance, Societe Generale, HSBC, SAP, and Credit Agricole CIB. In these roles, they worked on a range of projects, including transitioning digital banking products from monolithic to microservice infrastructure, implementing and maintaining regulatory platforms, improving CMS systems, and developing J2EE applications for various departments and industries.

Throughout their career, Pascal has demonstrated proficiency in a variety of technical environments and tools, including Java, Spring Boot, MongoDB, Spock, Docker, JEE, GWT, CQ5, ExtJS, KnockoutJS, and Maven.

Pascal Renou obtained a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from 3IL - Computer Engineering School from 2000 to 2003. In addition, Pascal has obtained several certifications including OCPJWCD from Oracle in 2012, OCJD from Oracle in 2010, OCJP from Oracle in 2008, and AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (SAA) from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in January 2020.
