ZhuLi Yap has an extensive work experience in the field of ophthalmology. Starting in 2012, they worked at the Singapore National Eye Centre, where they held various positions including Clinical Director of Complex Anterior Segment Service, Deputy Head of SNEC Eye Clinic@Changi General Hospital, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Associate Consultant, and Glaucoma Fellow. In addition to their roles at the Singapore National Eye Centre, they also worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Duke-NUS Medical School, as well as a Director on the Board of Directors at Alina Vision. ZhuLi has also been a member of the Advisory Group at The Fred Hollows Foundation. ZhuLi gained international experience as a Glaucoma and Anterior Segment Fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Prior to their specialization in ophthalmology, ZhuLi worked as a Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health in Singapore and a Resident Medical Officer at NSW Health.

ZhuLi Yap earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from UNSW between 2004 and 2009. Later, ZhuLi pursued a Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) degree from the National University of Singapore starting in 2014. Currently, there is no end year mentioned for both the Masters degree and the ongoing pursuit of FRCOphth degree in Ophthalmology from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, which ZhuLi started in 2017.
