Charlie Zhang has a diverse work history in the energy and chemical industries. Charlie began their career as a Sr. Chemist at Cytec Industries in 1994 and then moved on to work as a Sr. Research Chemist at Criterion Catalysts in 1995. Charlie joined Shell Oil Company in 2001 as a Sr. Chem, where they worked on refinery projects. In 2008, Charlie started working as a Process Engineer at Bechtel, focusing on clean coal energy and gasification projects. Charlie then worked at Parsons/National Energy Technology Lab in 2009 as a Sr. Engineer/Technologist VI, involved in computer process simulation and designing for advanced power systems. Later in 2009, they worked as an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton/National Energy Technology lab, specializing in computer modeling and techno-economic analysis. From 2010 to 2014, Charlie worked at KiOR as a Staff Engineer, where their responsibilities included engineering/process design, pilot plant testing, and commercializing alternative/renewable energy systems. Currently, they hold the role of Chief Technologist at SINOPEC.
Charlie Zhang received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Clark University in the period of 1987-1993. No other education history is known, as there is no information available about their time at Duquesne University and Yan'an University.
